Steve Hawker (Piano, Music Tech, Composition, Inclusive Music)
Steve studied at specialist music school Wells Cathedral School, Guildhall, Cambridge University, and an M.A. at Warwick University.
His experience includes 20 years of teaching students (early years, in schools, and at Falmouth University), music workshops in mainstream and special schools, gigging with classical piano and in bands, accompanying and composing. He also manages the MusicEL project.
Gary Flower (Guitar, Bass, Performance Technique)
Gary studied at the Brighton Institute for Modern Music and Bath Spa University with a focus on Professional Musicianship before training as a secondary school music teacher. He has been working as a professional musician in bands and doing session work for 14 years and teaching for 10 of those.
Gary now creates courses and acts as an online content co-ordinator for MusicEL. He also hosts the MusicEL podcast (MusicEL Pathways).
Jamie Toms MA PGCE
Jamie is a professional musician, performing in many areas of music predominantly as a guitarist.
Alongside his performing career, Jamie has been teaching for over 10 years. He now creates courses in his role as an online content co-ordinator for MusicEL.
Jamie Fyffe (Drum kit, Latin percussion, Guitar)
Jamie studied music at Leeds College of Music, University of Salford and University of Glasgow. Jamie is a professional musician, performing in many areas of music predominantly as a guitarist.
Jamie worked as a musician for Cunard Line and P&O Cruises before relocating to Brazil to perform in their world-famous Carnival. On his return, he taught drum kit and wrote a PhD thesis about jazz trumpeter Miles Davis.
He has lectured for University of Plymouth, taught for Cornwall Music Service Trust and worked as a Rock and Pop Examiner for Trinity College London. He currently performs with Falmouth Community Gospel Choir, in the Cornish jazz scene, and with singer Amanda Lucas.
Ben Joseph (Guitar, Harmonica, Bass, Music Tech, and Inclusive Music)
Ben studied Music Production & Entrepreneurship at the University of Alabama and Ethnomusicology at the University of London SOAS.
He has been teaching music for over a decade, working with all ages and abilities. He enjoys helping people from difficult backgrounds and those with special needs engage with music. He has performed extensively across the United States, Europe, and the United Kingdom with various artists.
MusicEL Teachers
James Robinson AGSM LTCL (percussion, jazz)
A teacher at all levels from beginner to conservatoire, James also co-leads Cornwall Music Service Trust and MusicEL’s jazz programme. He’s performed with English Chamber Orchestra, English National Ballet, London Concert Orchestra, Moscow City Ballet, and many more.
His career also includes West End theatre and many TV shows. James has “been there and done it” all, and can help you do the same!
Andy Bilham (keys, percussion, jazz)
Andy is a hugely experienced musician, and co-leads Cornwall Music Service Trust and MusicEL’s jazz programme. Alongside work in theatre and the music industry, he also has a wealth of teaching experience.
He has been percussion and keyboard instrumental lead for music services in Hertfordshire and Cornwall. He also runs Cornwall’s youth jazz orchestra, and samba groups for people of all ages.
Ross Hamilton BMus PGCE (percussion)
Ross has many years of teaching experience at all levels, and also coaches the percussion section of Cornwall Youth Orchestra.
As a performer, he plays drums and percussion in shows and musicals, and in many bands over the years, including 4 Tons of Funk, The Futons, and The People’s String Foundation.

Si Gordon (music production)
Si Gordon is an audio professional and lecturer who teaches in schools, and at FE & HE levels. He has been working in the music industry for over 30 years specialising in music composition, sound recording, sound design, production and engineering for both moving media and the record industry.
His composition and recording work has appeared on the likes of American Idol, Oprah Winfrey, Sky Sports, Miami Ink, America’s Next Top Model, MTV Europe, Trinny & Susannah Undress, Storm Watches, Horrible Histories and more.
