Back to: Jazz Bites
The track below is the same backing track you’ve used in the previous lessons, but without any questions and answers from Andy and James. So you’ll need to provide them yourself!
This works best playing with a friend – choose who’s going to play the question and who will play the answers, and take it in turns. Alternatively, in a classroom the teacher can play the question and the whole class can create their own answers. Once they’ve had a chance to experiment, pairs can be chosen to play for the class.
If you’re doing this on your own, you can pretend to be two people and play a question, then answer yourself.
Tips for feeling the pulse Each question and answer is 8 beats long. So you can practise counting along first in time with the backing track: - Question: 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - Then switch to the answer: 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 When you're ready have a go at playing along. Tapping your foot, walking on the spot in time with the beat, or moving your head/torso in time with the beat can help.
Congratulations! You’re ready for Jazz Bites 2.
