Back to: Demo – Meet the Instruments, free course
Presenting the CMST string quintet! Not only will they play you a concert, and show you their instruments, but they’ll also talk you through some of the special sounds (or sound effects) you can create.
String instruments are as old as music itself, and have many different forms around the world. String quartets and quintets (as performing here) have a long tradition in classical music. But if you start your journey by learning one of them, there are lots of other performing opportunities – as a soloist, in an orchestra, or jazz band. String musicians are also needed for music in films or games, and in pop music. So whatever your musical tastes there’s something here for you!
The concert programme:
- Presto, by Mozart
- Wild West Shaker
- Music from Outer Space, by Richard Ayling
- The Pink Panther
- Rather Be, by Clean Bandit
- Pirates of the Caribbean
You’ll also be introduced to each instrument in the string family, and hear how they sound on their own. These are:
- violin
- viola
- cello
- double bass
Each instrument comes in smaller sizes for youngsters to learn. This means you can start learning from a very young age – even as young as 4 years old!
