Back to: Flute – moving from Grade 2 – 3
You can use this course alongside lessons with your flute teacher. It is a handy reference that you can use at home to remind yourself of some of the new things you’ll learn with your teacher after you’ve got to a grade 2 level and want to move on. But this course isn’t made to replace your teacher! So don’t worry if you can’t do all of the lessons on your own – your teacher will be able to help when there are things you’re not sure about.
This course also has some pieces, scales, and backing tracks that you can use to put your new learning into practice. Plus some exercises to help you understand some of the new theory (chromatic scales and compound time signatures).
There are also some things you can try out that aren’t anything to do with taking grades, but help you develop as a musician and get creative! These include:
- improvisation – giving you some tips on how to make up your own music
- listening suggestions to expand your horizons and find new music
- learning by ear – with tips on how to find the notes on the flute for tunes you already know
